AT&T Uverse // April 2019 Speed Report

I’ve given up on seeing crazy fast speeds on my Pi as it’s limited to its USB port speed, but the desktop I have that has an upgraded 1 gig NIC. Anyway, on to the stats, where below you see a chart of the upload/download (red/blue, respectively) speeds for the month of April 2019: :

Looks like around 3p on April 10, I experienced a major slowdown in speed. Not sure what happened as I was in Berkeley, CA at that time/date. I spoke with AT&T tech support and they are shipping me out a new modem. We’ll see if that straightens things out.

Sushi Eating // OMA San Fran Station // Japantown / San Francisco (iii)

OMA San Francisco Station

Website: http://www.omasfstation.com

Ambiance: love this place on the second floor of a typical Japanese-style commercial complex throw-back from Tokyo. It seats about 8 people and is a simple bar with the owner/chef at the helm. Reservations are recommended.

Ordered: the 12 piece Omakase (sample nigiri included Sakura-masu, Wild Cherry Salmon, and Kinmedai, Wild Golden Eyes Snapper).

Thoughts: love this place. Chef takes great care with each nigiri and flavors them all well to complement the fish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Tied for first as my favorite along with 2 others.

My Rating: 4.96 / 5.0, Google Rating 4.8 (24 ratings)

Sushi Eating // Origami Chopstick Holder

Irasshaimase!

So I learned how to fold a version when I visited Japan a few years ago and was introduced to fish cakes and seafood miso, among other delicacies.

There are several versions you can learn, but here are a few:

Hope you discover one you like and make it part of your sushi eating ritual.

Enjoy!

AT&T Uverse // March 2019 Speed Report

I know for a fact it’s the version of PI that I have. I’ve ran Speedtest on my Windows 10 that is connected to the modem via 2 Ether-Gig routers with the results below.

Now on to the stats. Below you see a chart of the upload/download (red/blue, respectively) speeds for the month of March 2019:

Site Moved to WordPress

So I’ve decided to move my blog over to WordPress because Blogger seemed to be losing in popularity and WP is well supported and improved upon over the years.

The process was fairly straight forward and I did the following:

  1. Exported the Blogger Site;
  2. Set-up a Free WP site (more on this later) and imported the Blogger Site;
  3. Chose a WP Theme;
  4. Because I wanted blog.theharlans.com to point to my new WP site, I had to upgrade to the Personal (not Blogger) plan at WP (this caused some confusion but got it straightened out);
  5. Edited the domain files at GoDaddy to provide the correct CNAME record;
  6. Followed the instructions at https://firstsiteguide.com/move-blogger-to-wordpress/, Item 7, “Redirecting the old content to the new one.”

That all said… a slight learning curve but I’m confident it was a good move.

Stay tuned.

Sushi Eating // Sakerum // Washington DC (vi)

Sakerum

Ambiance: modern, dark, has a roof top.

Ordered: Yo-Ho IPA (jp), miso, Yellow Fish Roll and Chirashi.

Thoughts: really like this place.  Great vibe and great food. Chirashi had a lot of sashimi… More than I would’ve expected (included quail egg, uni, and roe).

My Rating: 4.5 / 5.0.  Google Rating: 4.1 (132 reviews)

Ate here again, 4/9/18 and had Sakerum Chirashi & Maguro Roll, below, respectively:

Updated 2/13/2019.  Love this place.  They have a great special on Wednesdays at the Sushi Bar — all day happy hour!:

AT&T Uverse // February 2019 Speed Report

Things are starting to look consistent, but still not over 300M d/l, or 150M u/l. I pretty sure it’s related to the Raspberry Pi 3 I have and the USB/NIC attached thereto.
